SEATTLE, Sept. (AP) They snatched the derby off
the trombone and tossed it to the ceiling in honor ; of
Vic Meyers today.

the zither with a whisk-broom and captured the democratic
renomination for lieutenant-governor with probably the
largest number of votes ever ac- v

state history. .
He received more than the total
vote cast for his 20 democratic

times that of his nearest com

1932 when newspaper reporters
Jested him into running for mayor

cracked-ice on midnight street
cars and flowerboxes on water
hydrants. He lost the mayorality election
but in the state primary and gen

the office of lieutenant-governor.
' For preparation for this week's
primary, however, Meyers had
turned serious. He didn't mike a
single speech. ;
'It may sound funny, but it's
true. People liko music better

campaign manager; stood beside
me. I played, he sang, and they
liked it.
