(For 18 sandwiches) '
V cup crab meat I I
H cup diced celery
1 tablespoon chopped pickle
1 tablespoon chopped pimien-

1 tablespoon lemon juice
4 tablespoons salad dressing
Mix ingredients with fork and
spread on buttered white bread
slices. Arrange sandwich fashion
and cut into small squares.
Lobster is delicious used In
place of crab. ;
Chilled Punch
1 cup raspberry juice
1 cup orange juice
M cup lemon juice
cup pineapple juice
2 cups sugar
, 2 cups water ! ' -
6 cups iced tea
Boil sugar and water 3 min
utes, add rest of Ingredients and
chill several hours to "ripen." Add
equal portion! Iced water and
serve in glasses f Illed w i t h

2 eggs
1 teaspoon, vanilla

Vz cup flour
Vi teaspoon baking powder
Cream butter and sugar. Add

Tomato Season Here; Methods of
Serving Unlimited; Some Recipes

This is tomato season every
where. Tomatoes are served at
almost every dinner or luncheon
in one form or another and need
never be arranged the same way
twice. Tomatoes are cool and re
freshing and may be served as
appetiser for a meal as well as
for the main dish. In planning
a meal tomatoes will always add
a colorful note to the table.
Any of the following tomato
recipes will be well worth trying
and some of them have been con
tributed by Salem housewives.
Tomato Cocktail
1 pints tomato juic!e
1 tablespoon sugar;
tablespoons catsup
Juice of half a lemon
Worcestershire and tobasco
sauce to taste
Combine and serve. Makes six
portions. For variation, add
minutes. Pour Into shallow greas
ed pan and bake 20 minutes in
moderate oven. Cut In bars.
Iady Drop Cakes
H cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
cup mill.
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 teaspoon salt
1-3 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Cream butter and sugar. Add
rest of ingredients and beat 2
minutes. Bake 10 minutes in
small muffin pans.

Frozen Staffed Tomato
C medium sized firm ripe to
matoes 1 cup cottage cheese
eup chopped cucumber
2 tablespoons finely chopped

V teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons! mayonnaise
Mix cheese with cucumbers and
remaining ingredients and stuff
tomatoes which have been peeled
and ; the ' ; centers , scooped out.
Place cut side down in a pan and
pour a dressing made of 1 cup
whipped cream mixed with 1 cup
mayonnaise around the stuffed
tomatoes. Chill In the freezing
unit several hours. Serve in
squares on lettuce leaves. The
following menu goes very well
with this:
Pickled Tomatoes
Choose small red or yellow to
matoes. Prick them with a pin
and put in glass or stone Jars.
Add V eup of nasturtium seeds
and cover with cold cider vine
gar. . They will be ready to use
in two weeks and if kept closely
covered will keep all winter.
Tomato Hash
1 quart tomatoes
2 cups bread crumbs 1
S cups cooked meat (chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
t tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon chopped- onion
4 tablespoons butter
Cook tomatoes, onion and sea
sonlngs together for one hour
Add crumbs and meat and heat
thoroughly. If the meat is fa
add less butter.

Deviled Salad
4 small tomatoes
4 eggs
2 tablespoons chopped ham
1 teaspoon mustard ,
Mayonnaise
Salt
Pepper ,
Lettuce
Peel tomatoes. ' cut In halves
crosswise hollow out centers and
chill. Boil eggs 20 minutes cobl
and remove shells cutting crpss-
wise. Remove yolks and mash to
a smooth paste with mustarp,
salt, pepper and a small amount
of mayonnaise and if liked; a dash
of cayenne. Add the chopped hain
and refill whites. Dust tomato
shells with salt and pepper. In
sert an egg in each and place d
a bed of ehredded lettuce. Top
each egg with mayonnaise arid
dust with paprika.
If Pie "Runs Over"
If the berry or fruit pies persist
in "running over" In the oven,
place a shallow pan directly un
derneath the pie to catch the
"drippings." The pan cf.n ..fee
washed easily and the oven- will
be saved. ,
