Society Urs. Oilman Paid Tribute During Luncheon 4 BEAUTIFULLY arranged luncheon was given by the board of the M. E. Old Peo ple' home at the Frederickson home yesterday In honor of Mrs. N. P. Gilraan who 1 retiring as superintendent of the home. Mr.- E. J. Swafford sketched the early history of the home and paid tribute to the effort made by Mrs. Helen Southwick, presi dent of the W. H. M. confer ence at that time, in having the home established. Mrs. I C. Pood was superin tendent for the first four years, followed by Mra. Fanny Penn. - Mrs. Gilman has held the post for the past 17 years. J Mrs. B. Blatchford was intro duced by Mrs. Oren Stratton as the new superintendent. Mrs. Sarah Hunt Steeves was intro duced : and commended for her service the past 15 years as se cretary of the board. Mrs. M. C. Flndley spoke on endowing rooms In the home which may be done at a philanthropic gesture. ' Alaskan Tour Begins at Seattle Port Sailing from Seattle Saturday aboard the S. S. Alaska for a 19 day Golden Belt tour of Alaska are Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hinkle, Miss Thia and Miss Sylvia Thom as of Dallas. Mrs. Ivy Robinson of -Independence and Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Conger of Medford. The party will dock at Seward ' and proceed by rail to Fairbanks, through McKinley national park over the Richardson motor trail to Cordova to board the S. S. Yu kon for the return trip. The voyagers are in Seattle this week for the Shrine convention. Past Presidents Meet At Fairgrounds The Past Presidents of the "Woman's Relief corps spent a pleasant day at the fairgrounds yesterday. " Speech-Craft Pupils Will Appear in Play A three act drama entitled "A Child's Day" will be presented by pupils 'of the Junior,' Dramatic league from the Salem j School of Speech-Craft tonight at 8 o'clock in the Court i Street I Christian church, 17th and Court. The public is welcome. The Loyal Builder's class of the church is sponsoring the program. A free will offering will be taken which will go to a fund for new thurch furniture. The first act begins in early spring with the scene laid in the Child's sleeping room. Act II occupies the early and late aft ernoon of the same day along the roadside and after school, and act III is the conclusion of the day in the sleeping room once more. Angel Mr. and Mrs. George May were honored with a surprise party at. their home Saturday night to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. The couple were marled July 11. 1911, in Mt.
