Kip Rhinelander Dies, Pneumonia NEW YORK, Feb. 10.-fl)Leo- nara Kip Knineiander, 34, who startled New York society a dec ade ago by marrying the daughter of a negro taxi driver, died today of lobar pneumonia. Death came after a week's ill ness at the Long Beach home of Rhinelander's father, with whom he became reconciled after win ning a sensational slx-yeai court Btruggle to cast off his wife. Rhinelander, scion of one of New York's oldest families, had been working in his father's Man hattan real estate office since he obtained a divorce at Las Vegas Nev., in 1930. Commenting on how he had won the esteem of his associates one fellow worker said: "He made one big mistake, but he tried to make up for it." His divorced wife, the former Alice Jones, said news of his death made her "very, very sad." Program for Plan Contest Outlined In commenting that he believ ed nine months would be needed to put construction under way, Commissioner Banfield listed the following program: - Two weeks before contest will be ready to start, eight weeks -more for con testants to submit plans, three weeks for Judging, five months to prepare working plans and have them checked by the state and government, and one month to ad- vertise for bids and make the award. The question of the site arose again today when Dr. Ernest Dal- ton advised the commission that Governor Charles Martin, who re cently opposed acquisition of portion of Willson park, was now in favor of acquiring from the city of Salem the east end of the plot He would have the main entrance of the capltol facing North Sum mer street and utilize about 200 feet of park land. An attorney General's ruling re cently held the capltol could not be constructed on other than the old site, due to legislative limit ations. Chairman J. A. McLean of En gene said following the meeting he was urging Commissioner Ban field to reconsider his resignation from the three-man executive committee.
