Cook of Minnesota has purchased the lO-acre im proved tract of land three miles northwest of town of Elmer Hampton. He has taken posses sion, and will make some im provements on the house. Mr, and Mrs. Hampten and daughter Marguerite move-i their house hold goods Wednesday to a place seven miles from Lacomb where Hampton will have employment in a miU. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Cecil De Lasaux of Chicago who have been visit ing relatives and friends here left for their home .Wednesday. Miss Flora Thomas left for Newport Friday i where she will spend several days vacationing, Pioneer Resident is Called Beyond HAZEL GREEN, Oct. 12. News has been received of the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Horn of Pilot Rock, the ! oldest sister of J. A. Looney. Mrs. Horn was f last August, j She was 10 in '49 while en route from Missouri to Jefferson, where the family borne was established in 1850, the family going to California for the winter of '48-'So; I Z At 16, Elizabeth Looney waa married to Adam Horn, at Jef ferson. They live at North How ell a few years before moving to Pilot Rock where Mrs. Horn has lived since. Mrs. Horn was the mother of 12 children, J. A. Looney, Glendale; Mrs. Francis Sapingfield, Ooldendale. Wash.; and a half brother W. E. Doty of Jefferson are left of the 12 chll dred 'of her mother's family. Man Lands on Wire Fence with Load of -Hay on Top; Unhurt CENTRAL HOWELL, Oct. 12. When a load of hay on which Robert and Willie Wenger were riding apaet. Wittle Wenger was thrown on a wire fence with the load of hay on top. The only injury he suffered was a deep scratch on one arm. .'";):.' Ralph Mol let has moved his house about one half mile j from where it did stand. Also a chicken house was moved the same distance. Roy King is moving a house and building more rooms on for the Rosenbalm family to live in. Mr. Rosenbalm lias been working for Mr. King for sometime. Polka Dot Revue is Huge Success DALLAS, Oct. 12 The trials and tribulation of a hard working chorus director was well portray ed by Donald Pinkerton in the Polka Dot revue presented by pu pils of Phyllis Grant at the Ma jestic thatre; Thursday evening. Inibality to dance or sing, stars dissatisfied with their dressing rooms, stage carpenters on strike, were all depicted in song and dance with the director in a frenzy. Little Jane Crider in a white satin suit and top hat was par ticularly outstanding as Mr. Strut- in and ensemble song and dance number. The adagio number of Naomi Hayes and Sanford Betts was professional in its technique. Little Patsy Zents, not six years old, won great applause with her song, "Animal Crackers." Phyllis Dickey was 1 a miniature ballet dancer in every aspect in a jaxz toe dance number. Tap' dance duets and trios in song and dance were brought to a finale with an acrobatic dance number by Naomi Hayes and sup porting group of hoop dancers. Oct. 12 A chrys anthemum show and a rummage sale will be given soon by the Molalla Civic club, it was decided at a meeting of the club Thursday at the F. M. Henriksen home. The flower show may be in connection with the second annual corn and potato show. Outside communi ties and clubs will be invited to have displays. In charge of the rummage sale will be Mrs.' Ever- man Robbins, Mrs. Orla Buxton, Mrs. Chester Granqulst, Mrs. J. W. Moore and Mrs. Ralph Hol- man. ' The chrysanthemum show will be under the general chairman ship of Mrs. George Blatchf ord. Outside Judges will be secured, and these Judges will give talks on flowers. Stafford and Mrs. George Overjorde. The next meeting place was not defin itely decided upon. Jesse E. Coulson Funeral is Held SCOTTS MILLS, Oct. 12. Fu neral services were held here Wednesday at the Friends church for Jesse Elwood Coulson, 80, who died Sunday. He was the son of David and Rachel Coulsen and was born in Salem, Iowa, June 19, 1855. - March 27,-1879, he was married to Harriet B. Frazier at Salem, Iowa. Soon they moved to a home stead in Kansas, where to them were born five children: Ethel Cox of Scotts Mills, David Dwight of Newberg, Edgar Worth of Scotts Mills, Wendell, dying in in fancy, and Mamie Deane of Tilla mook. He was a birthright mem ber of the Friends church, being converted in early childhood. In Kansas, he was ordained a minis ter. In June 1893 he moved with his family to Scotts Mills, where he lived until the time of his death. Besides the widow and four children he leaves one brother, Lewis of Kennewlck, Wash.; six grandchildren, David, Margaret, Mildred and Edgar Coulson; Wen dell and Doris Deane, and one great grandson, David Dwight Coulson. Mott Slated to Speak at Silverton Chamber of Commerce Tomorrow SILVERTON, Oct. 12. Con gressman James W. Mott will be the speaker at the Wednesday ses sion of the chamber of commerce. Election of officers for the new year will be a special feature of the meeting. The three past presi dents, Ernest Starr, Henry Aim and Earl Adams, are on the nom- nating committee. Kleeman of this dUtrict, reversed his plans of early sum mer and has reenlisted in the U. S. Navy. He left Thursday for San Francisco from where he will take a boat the latter part of the month for Washington, D. C, to take up his studies in the government na val school there.
