Maxwell Renting Roy Martin Farm PLEASANTDALE, Oct. 11. Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Maxwell, who have resided for five years on the old O'Dell farm here, have rented the late Roy Martin 50-acre farm northwest . of Dayton and will move this fall. Miles Maxwell will continue to farm the O'Dell land but Mr. and Mrs. Ralph" Turner and family of Unionvale, who re cently lost their home by fire, will move to the house when vacated by Mr. arid Mrs. Maxwell. Mr. and Mrs. Turner have many interesting stories to relate of the recent fire that destroyed their home. One was that while they lost the home and contents they did not lose cash, but their closest neighbor, Mrs. Ray Sion, who ran over to assist had laid a purse with her valuable papers and sev eral dollars cash in it, layed it where she thought it was safe. Also election of officers and plans for the year win be on. the program. Cannery Employe Taken to Hospital AUMSVILLE, Oct. 11. Johnny Sacre of Salem, a former resident of this place, employed at the 12th street cannery, was taken sudden ly ill Thursday and was taken to a Salem hospital, where the at tach was diagnosed as gravel in the liver. He. will be compelled to remain in the hospital for three weeks, word was received here by his sister, Mrs. Opal Fuson. Kastburn is Delegate The Townsend club held their regular meeting here last night. David -Eastburn was elected dele gate to attend the Chicago con vention this month. Guests from Turner and Salem clubs were in attendance. Mr. Flemming of Salem was the speaker for the evening. Mrs. T. C. Mountain was appointed to arrange a program for the next meeting. The club yoted to hold a joint meeting with Turner club members upon the return of the delegates from Chicago. Mrs. Har court spent her girlhood on the farm that now comprises part of th present townsite of Marion. Mrs. Ada Lundberg left Friday for Pasadena, Calif., where she has employment through the win ter, but will return to her Mar ion home in the spring. Epley, Of Salem, will be ; the speaker for the Stayton Townsend club meeting, next Tuesday sight. Along the order of -business will be the election of a delegate to the Chicago convention. Breaks Leg In Fall Eric Fischer, of Victor Point, woh broke both bones in his an kle, in a fall from a barn roof, where he was working, is recuper ating at the home of Mrs. Fisch er's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Downing. He was able to reduce the fracture himself, his high laced boots keeping It from spreading. Hugh Hurt, a former resident of the section and well known in grange and Masonic lodge circles of the county, Is now employed as circulation manager for the South TJmpqua News at Riddle. D. Scott home about 2 a. m. Wednesday , morning. . It took almost an hour to pall the quills from the dogs' months after they had killed it. Fath er Joseph Vanderbeck of the cathedral parish, and Gene Van derbeck of Portland, were recent dinner guests at the. Lawrence Ferschweiler home. Mrs. Kenne dy is a sister to Alex and John Manning. Work on the John Manning home is going quite rapidly and it will be ready to occupy some time next week. Frank Dubois and Miss Lucille Manning, youngest daughter of John Manning, motored to San Francisco Thursday, where Lu cille plans to stay with her sisters and make her home.
