RITES FOB DOHFf TO LOS ANGELES, Sept 9.-(ff- Funeral services for Edward L. Doheny, who turned crude oil into a personal fortune of unesti mated magnitude, wilt be held Wednesday in' the 11500,000 St. Vincent's church built through his generosity. Unofficial estimates of the for tune he' amassed at the height of his career ranged from $100,000,- 000 to 2300,000,000, but a close associate, R. M. Sands, rice-pres ident of the Petroleum Securities company, ssid that seven years ago Doheny's wealth stood at $75,000,000. Few of Doheny's private chari ties were ever revealed. At the time of his death, said Sands, he owned one-sixth of his former $75,000,000 estate, or about $12, 500.000. Friends said that only this amount of Doheny's estate would be liable to federal inheritance taxes. At the office ot the col lector ot internal revenue it was ssid thst the newly-enacted tax schedule would take about $6,- 500,000 from on estate of such magnitude. Two Denver sandlot baseball teams cracked $ 5 hits between them and made six errors, hut the final score was 2 to 1.
