IBS SHOWS 11 PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. t.-Uf) There was a general ahowinc ot weakness In the. batter trade to day daring the late session ot the Portland produce exchange. There has daring tne last lew days been practically no specula tive interest, and while top score has not been In real surplus sap- ply, the entire batter stractare baa suffered from weakness in ine underscores. Bntterfat Talues were generally steady with most local interests savin around. Z7C It). Trading In the egg market lo cally was without general change. Tbe state has added undersize to the legal grades. Acute shortage of lightweight broilers; those under 2 lbs. was confirmed. Sales were reported nominally to 15-15 ttc lb. Other fowls were- generally steady. Tomatoes Higher Advanced prices were shown for the dsy in the tomato trade with decreasing supplies. Most busi ness in best stuff was $1 box with a few sales fractionally higher. Market for cantaloupes showed a firm tone, including all offer ings. There waa a shortage of of ferings from The Dalles and Yak lma while Californian were high er as a result of a strong F. O B. market. Better situation Is reported In the peach trade with much of the California stuff out of the way and better stuff coming from tbe mountain sectors. Local stock was still the favorite. P Wayne Harding, head of the 4- H club work in Marion county, re turned Wednesday from a three day tour with 100 Willamette val ley club workers, through Wash ington and Yamhill counties. - Both boys and leaders were in cluded on the interesting trip which permitted the boys to add to their knowledge of stock judg ing and farm management, Hard ing reported. Particularly interesting, Hard ing said, was the visit to the" large Foothill Farm" ot Frank Brown in xamniii county, wnere tne group spent the evening in dis cussion around a fireplace. Included on the tour were Law rence Roberts and Mark Lewis of Salem. XOTICE TO CREDITORS NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the last will and testament of Maria P. Ia some of tbe more active Is sues, especially In merchandising. Steel and Aircraft shares and some of the specialties, advances, ranged from major fractions to around' 2 points, but for the mar ket as a whole improvement was modest and there were more than a few minus signs at the finish. The list's improvement, as measured by the Associated Press average ot 60 stocks, was .2 of a point at 47.3 with industrials moderately outdistancing the util ities and rails. Stock exchange turnover accelerated slightly at 1, 433,160 shares. A sharp break in cotton futures following the government crop re port, which extended to around 2 a bale for a time, failed to shake particularly other commod ities or tbe share market. Cotton came back at the finish to end down 60 cents to 31.05 a bale. At Chicago wheat was 4 to Ts of a cent a bushel lower and corn was unchanged to off 4 of a cent. Hog prices spurted to Hew six-year top. General Motors advanced frac tionally to a new high for tho year at 42 as July sales fig ures to consumers, dealers and for export all registered satisfactory gains over a year ago.
