RUST REPORTS ME OFFSET BY HEDGING CHICAGO. July S.-Jpy-Wary lest tomorrow's holiday might bring surprise developments, most grain traders , today refused to , take pronounced stand favoring either higher or lower prices. t Hectic buying, at times resnlted from persistent tears of black rust damage to wheat, but this was more or less offset by chances of an Increased volume of hedging sales here soon on account of har vest operations in adjacent winter crop territory. The first ear of new wheat this season in Chica go arrived today, and proved to be of disappointing quality, grading only a sample red garlicky, with 16 per cent of moisture, a show ing construed as bearish on prices. The close for wheat was un even, off to up. compared with yesterday's finish, Sept. 86--87, corn 4-l down, Sept., oats at decline, and provisions unchanged to, a rise of 2 cents.
