OF NEW-YORK, June l-After selling rather feverishly daring the early part of the stock' market session today, traders turned ab ruptly and jumped aboard the equities band-wagon again, con centrating in mining shares. ' In Its sudden improvement the market recovered most of the ground lost earlier. The sharp gains in the mining stocks, brokers said, resulted from buying in speculative quart ers where it was believed the ad ministration might once more hoist the price of silver in an ef fort to offset deflationary forces set in motion by the supreme court's decision on NRA. The sharp drop in automobile output, estimated by Cram's at 65,675 units, compared with 100,- 70a in the preceding week, was Interpreted in Wall street in the light of the fact the holiday had cut operations to a three-day ba sis. The total compared with 54,185 in the like week last rear In terms of the Associated Press average of 60 stocks, the market declined .3 of a point to 40.6. The hourly rate of trad ing was considerably faster than on Friday. Sales totaled 676,450 shares. The buying of silver stocks car ried U. S. Smelting up 5 3-4 points to 112, Cerro de Pasco up 2 5-8 to 55, and American Smelting up 2 to 42.
