() Although buyers of stocks were fairly chipper today, they lacked the wholehearted energy shown Friday. The principal hitching post for cheerful sentiment was the-report of Cram on automobile production.- The week's output was estimated at 107,895 compar ed with 103,286 last week and 89,722 in the like week a year ago. Brokers took the increase to mean manufacturers are hope ful of good sales ahead. At 37.7 the Associated Press average of sixty stocks showed a gain of 0.2 of a point, Turnover totaled 464,290 shares compared with Friday's 1,213.500 shares for the full five-hour session. On the other hand, the market was nearly twice as active as last Sat urday when 247,240 shares chan ged hands. While industrials and Tall stocks edged ahead for fair gains, the utilities seemed content to re flect their lessened fear of regu lation by holding stubbornly to their good advance of the previous day. On the week the stock market afforded a fair index of financial sentiment. The Associated Press average of sixty stocks was ahead from 36.3 to 37.7. mm of cord CHICAGO, April 6-(P)-Braced up as a result of late speculative buying, the corn market scored something of an advance today, and Iw. rted relative firmness to other grains. Gardeners' and Ranchers Mart PORTLAND, Ore., April S.-UP) -Trade was slightly better at to day's session of the Gardeners' and Farmers' eariy wholesale market. Prices were mostly stea dy with more drops than raises, unusual for this time of the sea son. A few strawberries were ex pected to appear at Saturday's ses sion of the market but none were reported. They should come about the middle of the week, however. More produce was shown yes terday than the demand called for and the general run of produce was of fairly good Quality. Much spinach was offered at a slightly lower price ranging from SI to 11.25 and was quite good. Potatoes have been holding their own for several days and have had little mention. The price spread was generally around $0 cents for a 50-pound sack for the better grades while there were i others that sold for less. Local cabbage was observed to be enjoying a fairly good demand and was bringing as high as $5.50 per crate. Other grades sold for as much as a dollar less. Green onions were still scarce and little improvement can he seen in the supply. Prices were quite low considering; the condi tions. They were from 25 to 30 cents for a dosen hunches. Cu cumbers held to 'their new low price of 70c-S1.20 hut most sale were made at the lower prices. Bpinach Crtte, ltS. Carrota Lug. 50-60. Hcets -Dnxen hnrlien XO-Se.
