At Dresden she studied under Henri Marteau who said of her, "Mildi Roberts has developed into a brilliant violinist. She has a very warm and beautiful tone and a thoroughly developed techni que.' I am convinced that she will have a very successful ca reer." . During the last year, the young violinist was accepted as a pupil by Louis Persinger, In New York, who speaks most enthusi astically of her work. She is the fortunate possessor of a rare Stradivarius which' had been in - the family of a German prince since 1700. Sunshine Tour Event of Sum- An unusual opportunity to visit the Orient is offered by the "Or iental Sunshine Tour", a person ally conducted cruise in charge of Mrs. J. Vinton Scott, as announced by William H. Deacon, general agent of ihe passenger depart ment of the Canadian Pacific in Portland. The cruise ship will be the magnificent "Empress of Japan," the largest and fastest liner on the Pacific. Mrs. Scott, is an Or iental traveler of note, being in the Orient from 1919 to 1932. She has made eight trips across the Pacific, and has a perfect under standing of Oriental languages and customs. Those who book on this cruise are assured a carefree, highly educational, delightful tour. Leaving Vancouver, B. C, on June 15, the itinerary of the "Oriental Sunshine Tour"' In cludes in the many ports of call, Honolulu, Yokohama, Kobe, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Manila, Canton, Kljoto, with shore excur sions at various points. Legion Auxiliary Has Meeting Monday The American Legion auxiliary holds lt3 regular social meeting at Fraternal temple Monday. A pot-luck supper will be served at &;30 p.m. The committee in charge is Mrs. Mose Palmateer, chairman, Mrs. Anna Powers, Mrs. Minnie Jirak, Mrs. Fay Lieuallen, Mrs. Jessie Looney, Mrs. Alta Camon, Mrs. Mattie Hinkle and Mrs. Gladys Mason. Mrs. A. H. Wilson, chairman community service committee, and Mrs. Paul Ficke, Mrs. Elbert Bradford, Mrs. Frank Jirak, and Mrs. Glenn Seeley will have charge of the program for the meeting. All who were fortunate enough to hear the brilliant young vio linist, Frances Brockman, when she played the Tschaikowsky con certo with the Portland Symphony orchestra this winter, will be de lighted to hear that she is to be the guest solo artist with the Sa lem Philharmonic In their next .concert, April 5. Thi3 young Oregon violinUt, who is at present a student at the University of Oregon, plays with the technical assurance and understanding of a finished art ist and it is indeed a privilege for Salem Symphony lovers to have this opportunity to hear her with their own orchestra. .
