Force wers felici tated Monday, on their 60 th wed ding anniversary at their home at 5604 N. E. SOth avenue, Portland. They formerly lived In Monmouth for 24 years. Clarence Elmer Force and Mar garet Delphlne Welch were mar ried March 4, 1S75, at Sprlng tille, Iowa. They left the same day for SL Paul. Nebraska, where for 20 yean Mr. Force was en gaged in the barber business, and operated a farm as a sideline They moved to Oregon in 1895, coming to Monmouth soon after where fo 22 years Mr. Force was a barber. A card and flower shower was arranged for their pleasure by a group of Monmouth friends., Miss fabel Johnson, teacher of music, in Portland high schools, whuVfaas been seriously ill in a hospital, for more than two months, .was able to spend the weelfend here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Johnson. She accompanied Miss Helen De Ar- mond, also a Portland teacher, who drove to Monmouth to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E, De Armond. H. K. Extras advanced one cent on the Portland Exchange and stan dards cent. Butterfat was one eent higher. Other grades of butter, as well as eggs, were unchanged. Demand for chickens continued nnsupplied with receipts very moderate and receivers being compelled to refuse business on a larger volume. Prices, there fore were firm. Somewhat firmer situation was reported for cauliflower with Roseburg indicating a greater output and carload business about to start in earnest at better pric es. California was reported firm. Despite the opening of the lenten season there continued a demand for country killed meats In excess of supply with prices firm to higher in spots. Van Trump made a trip yesterday to the Talbot district in attempt to lo cate some plants, but could find none. Van Trump believes the only other possible place in the county to get Eterberg plants would be from the Silver Creek Falls area, though it is under stood the plantings there are un der contract.
