As registration climbed- to 569
before it was complete last year,
this year's enrollment is expect

Yesterday students started the
regular routine of classes at
7:45. At the first chapel service
of the year, Dr. Frank , Erick
son, acting president, spoke on
the Ideals and purposes behind
college education after Wanda
Landon, student body song queen,
had led the students In a num
ber of Willamette songs.
The first issue of the Colle
gian, campus newspaper, also ap
peared yesterday.

Creamed Tuna ia Tomatoes
4 large firm tomatoes
3 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons flour
teaspoon salt
ii teaspoon paprika
hi teaspoon, celery salt
5 tablespoons chopped green
peppers
1 1-3 cups milk
2-3 cup tuna
Wash tomatoes, remove cen
ters. Melt butter and add flour
and seasonings. Add milk and
cook slowly until thick sauce
forms. Stir constantly. Add tuna..
Stuff tomatoes. Arrange in shal
low pan. Add inch water and
bake 85 minutes in moderate
oven.
Cheese Biscuits
1 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
M teaspoon salt
1- 3 cup grated cheese
St ablespoons lard
4 cup milk
Mix flour, baking powder and
salt. Add cheese ai d lard, cut
ting In with knife. Mixing with
knife, slowly add milk. When
soft dough forms, pat out until
Inch thick. Cut out biscuits
and arrange side by side on
greased shallw pan. Bake 10
minutes in moderate oven.

2- 3 cup fat
1 cups sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
Vt cup sour cream
2-3 cup chopped dates
cup broken nuts
Vi cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
Cream fat and sugar. Add spic

Van Winkle held in an opinion
handed down Thursday. The opin
ion was requested by Max Gehl
har, state director of agriculture.
In another opinion. Van Win
kle held that it was unlawful to
take clams from a slough for com
mercial purposes, even though the
slough runs through the property
which the person taking the clams
owns and on which he pays taxes.
This opinion was requested by
the state game commission and In
volved a resident of Lincoln
county.

Mich., arrived recently to make
her home with her parents, Mr
and Mrs. J. S. Pattison. Mr. and
Mrs Patticon came to Oregon
on a visit about three years ago
