What business is done is largely In fill ing-in or specialty orders which require little wool. Tarns and tops are barely steady. "The foreign markets are hard ly so keen this week as last at the weekend. "Mohair continues rather slow but stocks are light and prices are firm." ET PORTLAND, April 20. (Jf) btrengin was continued in t n market for butter with a general cleanup of dealers floor stock suggested locally. All along the coast steady to firmer and even higher prices were ruling for but ter. In California the weather has continued against production while in the Pacific northwest conditions' are Ideal. Butterfat was held at the late advance here. Market for eggs continued of rather good character with de creasing supplies and a demand In excess of offerings of quality goods. No change was suggested n the price for the day. Demand for chickens was hold ing well and prices were gener ally upheld for the day. Broilers alone indicated some easiness and this was reflected mostly insmall stuff. Better quality and excellent weather wre combinations that tend to uphold the price on good strawberries here for the day even with liberal offerings. Lit tle local stock was arriving. Market for country killed meats was without general change for the day. Good lambs were sell ing wall at the recently lower price and quality vealers were steady. Radi P rogram SATTJBDAY. IM4. Bales di ceo Oregon hop markets showed 888 bales aold daring the week ending April 19, and Washington markets developed the heaviest buying since last November, with sale by growers totaling til bales. In California, growers sold only SO bales, ot babies, at 20 cents. The Oregon sales prices Includ ed batches of 34, 69, 125. 25, 45 and. 73 bales or a total ot 371 bales of fair primes, which sold at 22 cents to grower: 276 bales of good media me brought the grower 22 cents, with 133 bales, of about the same quality netting 22 H cents, 93 bales bringing 23 cents and 15 bales babies bring ing 20 cents. No interest in term contracts was reported during the period, and inquiry for older growth hops was lacking. Oregon producers, particularly those with top qual ity hops, were maintaining a firm holding tendency, and the lack of selling pressure was an important factor in the current market sit uation, which was steady to firm er. Oregon crop prospects thus far were reported as generally favorable. In Washington 721 bales ot medium to prime quality 1933 crop clusters netted growers 26c per pound, with 70 bales of the same approximate quality bring ing grower 25 cents per pound, while 20 bales of medlams were sold at 23 cents per pound. Most of these sales were consummated early in the period, and toward the close of the week dealers requirements were evidently about filled and inquirv was some what lighter, in the Yakima val ley district where the above list ed sales were made. In western Washington, the market was very quiet with no sales. Reports from the Pnyallup val ley indicated that downy mildew was showing up in the clusters to about the same degree as lat year, when damage from this in fection was severe.
