salary adjustments of officials of
the Portland General Electric
company which were not Involved
in the budget of the Pacific Tele

said that his preliminary investi
gations showed that the officials
of the Portland General Electric
company were receiving smaller
salaries than those of the tele
phone company, that there were
fewer employes, and that the fi
nancial affairs of. the concern ap
parently were being conducted on j
a sound financial basis. He also
declared that the Portland Gen
eral Electrie company had no
holding company charges such as
those contained in the budgets of
the telephone company and the
Northwestern electric group.
