At a meeting at the schoolhouse Wed nesday night the budget for the year was accepted as made out by the school board. School will open Monday, Sep tember 18, with Miss Pearl Eyre of Salem as critic teacher - and Miss Mildred Leighton of Salem as assistant critic. The school house has bad a new coat of paint during the summer, new book cases for the primary classes have been made and the furnace and furniture have been given a general over hauling, in readiness for the opening of schooi. The average attendance for last year was 62 and it is expected the same attendance will hold for this year. Electricity Turned On at Valsetz by Cobbs & Mitchell VALSETZ, Sept. 1. Electricity was turned on this week from the Cobbs & Mitchell mill, the first time in over two years. The lights are on only during the day, as no night- shift is run ning yet.
