grocery stores in Portland be open
not before 7:30 a. m. and close
cot later than trSO p. m., six days
a week was adopted by the Gro
cers' and Merchants' association
here today. The code, drawn in
accordance with the national in
dustrial recovery act. would fur
ther provide that no store be open
on Sunday.
A minimum wage for women of
$11 a week or $2.50 a day was
agreed upon, with a maximum
work week ot 48 hours of 8 hours
a day. For men th maximum
work week was set at 48 hours
with a maximum day ot 10 hours.
Minimum wag for men would be
$18 a week or $3 a day.

Clair H. Corson. 39. district
equipment superintendent of the
Pacific Telephone &.. Telegraph
company here, died at his home
here today. Heart trouble was said
to hare been the cause - of his
death. - -. .
Corson had been employed by
th telephone company for 23
rears. He was wire chief at Salem
from June-e923 until 1928 when
he was madef district plant chief,
with headquarters in that city. In
May, 1930 he came to th Port
land office.-
His widow and two children
survive. Funeral arrangements
had not been completed today. -
