The Lib erty Women's club Wednesday re ceived word of baring won third prise In the nation - wide "Ideal rural home'! contest, conducted by the women's department of the Country Gentleman ' magazine. A check for 110 prize money was. received.. As no limit on proposed cost was made, the club decided ft would be no "trick" at all to plan an Ideal country home on such . un limited means. The upper story plan consisted of three bedrooms and bath: the first floor: Kitchen. nook, office, dining and living Tooms, one bedroom end bath; the full basement divided into storeroom, laundry, furnace and recreation room. Mrs. Dallas had particular charge ot basement plans, Mrs. Decatur of the bathrooms, Mrs Tromblee, kitchen, Mrs. Stacey. furniture and its location, and Mrs. Dasch of the grounds and landscaping. Mrs. Al Brown re ceives credit for final drawings, and Mrs. Harold Lane for the typ ing work. 1 The Liberty club has become very well known in county and state federation of women's clubs and has been given a place on committees 'a number of years. Mrs. C. W. Stacey has been presi dent of the organization for two years of progressive club activity. Mrs. John Dasch is the new presi . dent for the coming cab year. Mrs. Buck to Speak At Grange Gathering MACLEAT. July 6. At the regular grange meeting to be held Friday night, Mrs. H. E. Martin, lecturer, has arranged to have Mrs. Nevia Buck of Salem give an Instructive talk. Other numbers on the lecturer's program will be a skit by Harry Martin, Jr., and Hazel Magee. He Is at home with nurse in attendance. Charles Bates who lives a short distance east of Shelburn suffered a light paralytic stroke last week. A. W. Ewing is confined to his home with pneumonia. Shelburn residents were widely scattered on the 4th, some speed ing the day at the Farmers' Union picnic at Rivervlew, some at the Sokol club, others at Cas cadla and Mehama and a tew en- oying the fireworks In 8alem in the evening. Molalla Buckeroo Draws Excellent Crowds; Has Big Financial Success MOLALLA, July Molalla's tenth annual ' Buckeroo Is bow history, but while it was In the doing. It made some history it self. Oldtimers are saying that nev er In the history ot this com munity has there been a bigger crowd here in one day than there was on July 4. The townspeople were almost caught napping. A crowd had been expected, but not the multitudes who came. It is estimated that 12,000 people came to Molalla to ' celebrate. The grandstand and bleachers were filled to capacity, and peo ple had to be turned away at the gate. There were people on the fences, the railings, the roofs of the sheds and even the trees In the city park near the buckeroo grounds were filled with specta tors. Another bit of history was that more money was taken in the ilrst two days of the show 1 than has ever been taken in any other two days in the-10 years of the Molalla Buckeroo. that is with the exclusion of July 4, and this was at greatly reduced prices. ' It is the general opinion around town that Molalla has never put on a better show than this year. The performance was lively the whole way. through The cowboys were good, the spe cialty acts went off In splendid shape, and the stock was of the best. The Brahma steers made their first appearance in Molalla and furnished some of the great est thrills of the show. On July 4, a special feature was pat on by Ous Ray, the clown. He came out riding in a chariot drawn by the bull used by Eddie Cantor in the picture "The Kid From Spain." The bull was raring mad and the arena was cleared ot all horsemen before it made its ap pearance. The show was, ot course, a fi nancial success.
