Jan. 4 f A Pi President Hoover sternly as sailed congressional leaders here for opposing his method of re grouping government bureaus, but the democrats went resolute ly forward with their nlana for killing the chief executive's pro posals. The president called his first press conference since September to tell newspapermen that if any reorganisation or the government departments is to be more than "make believe," congress either must "keep Its hands off now" or it must give President-elect Roos evelt virtually a free rein. The reaction in congress was immediate. Chairman Cochran of the house expenditures committer announced he would call hi group together Thursday and would then seek to have reported out a resolution he has drawn to block the entire Hoover program for realigning and regrouping SS separate bureaus into nine divi sions under existf Jg departments. r unner, Cochran said it would be "unjust and most unfair" to the president-elect to reshuffle so large a nortion of tha picntlve establishment just two weeks be- rore he took office. He reasserted the intention of the democratic leaden to vest much wider reor ganizing power in Franklin D. Roosevelt. Jan. 4 (AP) Advance or one cent Instead of a decline in the price of eggs by the local Co-ops was the answer of Manager Dixon of the Oregon or ganization to those private firms and outsiders who have so per sistently sold down the local mar ket price. It was a complete answer to the unseasonable shading; of establish ed prices here, the latter being sufficiently low to create nor mal movement. The tactics of the outsiders as well as the private firms who shaded values recently; and created an artificially week undertone, was being condemned by producers generally. The threat of some private firms of an advance of 2c in the selling price was not believed gen erally as the same interests were continually underselling the local organisation ot producers. Quite a fair volume of butter has been moved ont ofthe Port land territory to California points during the last few days; taking care of whatever surplus has been accumulating here. Make is still betir than seasonable. Almost general steadiness is re flwdd in the market for butter fat with 21c lb. being most gen erally Quoted here for chnrningr cream and 2c additional for sweet cream. Pinions FOB YEAR SCOTT3 MILLS.
