Simil arly, a small fraction of the Octo ber loadings represented final old-crop shipments. T h e r ef or. October-November boat loadings, totaling 12 million pounds, quit closely measures the boat movement of 1932 crop prunes through this port. October and November loadings through the port of Portland are itemized by destinations as follows: Destination October November 1,102,932 1.I70.I80 United Kingdom France 248.379 72.350 221,100 1,107.444 118,100 405,590 7.163 38.188 15,150 89.441 73.426 28,700 11,000 119.029 28.820 Belgium Holland Germany 8,200 492,926 11.00 83.144 38,228 83.250 4,150 11.901 1.4 00 18,120 Danslg Poland; Norway Sweden Deamark Lithuania Italy Palestine Spain Total Foreign Exp 3.571,774 To Atlantic C. ( AP) An echo of the record advance of 5c a pound made some days ago in the local butter trade appears underlying easiness in the situa tion which would otherwise call for increasing strength. The trade appears afraid to advance prices because of the previous blowup of artificial values. The local make is holding up quite well but some decrease is noted in late arrivals from out btate points. There was no change in prices for the day in the butter trade but butterfat continues firm with mora paying the higher figures. There is a temporary shortage of eggs here on account of weath er conditions according to some trade leaders rnd stiffening of quotations is m vested and in spots higher figures are named. There is a shortage of live chickens showing as a result of low prices and weather conditions. However, demand is not any too brisk because ot the lowness of prices for other fowls and espe cially turkeys. Attempt to bolster up country killed lamb prices appears to have resulted only In creating weakness In the trade with a slow move ment into consuming channels. Veal and hogs are steady. o- o Bits for Breakfast j o o (Continued from Page 4) wagon doomed it to final defeat. Who does not remember that the first autos were anathema, even anathema marantha, to the old time horseman? Partly because the auto frightened horses, and caused many runaways, some with disastrous results. S "a And that this continued until a new race of horses grew up, used from colthood to the sight, until now a gasoline buggy does not disturb a horse In the least. Radio Program THTTBgDAT. Dec. 14 (API Twelve carloads of Oregon turkeys ate scheduled to go to California this week, shippers here said to day. Weather conditions during the past week or so have limited the movement of birds from prac tically all leading producing points of Oregon and Idaho. Last week, with better conditions, around 2X carloads were shipped from Ore gon to eastern markets, and four to California. Eastern shipments by freight have ceased. Because of the cold weather many turkeys received here have arrived froten, making reshlpment practically impossible. As a result of the cold weather many growers are talking of delaying killing. The trade here believes this would result In a grave situation inas much as It would throw the great bulk of birds upon an already oversupplied local trade.
