Aprils 24 The past week and a half of hot. dry weather combined with strong winds has dried the ground out until it is cracking badly. Farm ers are working early and late at their plowing in a desperate ef fort to conserve the moisture. Strawberry growers have crews hoeing and cultivating Etter- hurgs and Marshalls as the weather conditions are causing both early and late berry plants to mature r pidly. The Etterburgs are lust beginning to show bloom buds now while the Mar shalls have been blooming for about two weeks. Bronze Bust of Pope Unveiled As 2000 Watch - rome. Including Card- lnal Mundelein of Chicago and seven other cardinals here wit nessed the unveiling ot a bronze bust ot Pope Pius XI in the new Collere of the Propogation of Faith, the construction of which was financed by the Chicago arch- diocese.
