Al though not so much may be 4one during Lent yet plans may be made tor that which is to follow it and that has been true in no small degree of the past week. . . Especially- has this been true of plans for benefit - bridge and tea affairs. As the dates stand now there is the St Vincent de Paul bridge benefit April 21 ; American . legion auxiliary, benefit -bridge tea at the Woman's clubhouse Atril 22: the Etokta club silver tea at the home of j jat. j. nay remnerion, April ; and the Daughters of the Ameri can Reyolation tea at the home of .Sin. J. Lyman Steed, April 24. At least one big danee will be given this week, that sponsored by the members of the Junior Gnild of St. Paul's Episcopal church. .. During the past week Mrs. Ed ear Pierce has been a charming .bridge luncheon hostess; Mrs. I Marie Flint McCall opened her country home to the Thursday -club annual breakfast? Mrs. Ken neth Wilson entertained with an '.attractive affair for Miss Pru- ' Hence Patterson, bride-elect Sat- nrday night and Mrs. J. W. The reception" rooms were bowers of gay spring flow ers la pastel shades to' make a fitting background for the bevy of young maids who called daring the afternoon; Many tall tapers la shades to harmonize with the flowers were nsed about the rooms. - The tea table was ' centered with a low crystal bowl filled with t fairy-like arrangement of forget-me-nots, yellow roses and ferns. Yellow ' tapers In crystal holders stood on eother side of this piece and gave' added distinc tion to - the tea service. This program will be the concluding one of the year and follows a tour of all north western Oregon. The club has been under the di rection of Prof. Forrest W. Qaw and the assistant director, John Crnkovleh. The personnel of the club is first tenor: Norman Soren sen, and Ralph Morrison; second tenor, Wesley Roeder, Gustav Klempel, Fred Paul; baritone. Howard Miller, Ronald Hewitt, Edwin Rounds. Robert Magin; bass, John Crnkovicb. Evans Hamilton, and Benjamin Bird. Outstanding and unusual is the trumpet trio which will play in the Monday night program. Devers An announcement which great ly set at ease, the mind of the club was the definite assurance that the house of representatives would be available for the federa tion sessions to be held during the convention May 12, 13, 14, and Among the many reports made and discussions which took place concerning the coming convention was a report by Mrs. Ivan Martin concerning the names of those who ' had already volunteered housing room for delegates here during the convention. Mrs. Mar tin urged all members who coukd possibly do so to offer housing accommodations and any friends or tne cino to also assist. Miss Mary Fake was announced as a new member to the Woman's club. Following the business meeting an Intensely Interesting lecture was given by Martin Ferry on the subject of "Psychology of Crime." In this talk. Mr. Ferry mentioned as contributing causes to crime poverty, excess wealth, and men tal capacity, and explained the effect of these forces. John Crnkovieh concluded the program with two exception ally well received solo numbers. a a Pioneer Celebrates Birthday, Aurora Mrs. Wm. Knight, a real Oregon lan. was honored upon her 75th birthday Friday with a surprise dinner at her . home in Canny. Her twin daughters, Mrs. E. E. Bradtl, of Aurora and Mrs:. Del Clark of Canby, wer : , the hostesses. Mrs. Knight .is the widow of the late William Knight, one of the three Knight brothers who crossed the plains from Bethel, Missouri, with the pioneers of the Aurora colony. They later settled in Canby. where the families were for 55 years. The five Knight children; Mrs. Millard Lee, Mrs. Arthur Knight. Portland; Miss Josephine Knight. Mrs. Del Clark. Canby; Mrs. E. E. Mrs. Fontaine gave an Interesting sketch, of the life of Gandhi. During the Business session Mrs. R. C. Thomas, Mrs. M. D. Looney, Marguerite Looney, Mrs. Earl Lynes and . Mrs. Fontaine were elected delegates to attend the County Federation of Wom en's clubs which convenes at Aurora April 24.
