at the end of the quarter to the
school which had learned the
greatest number of hcripture
verses during the quarter.

mittee to see that a banner was
procured.
It was ordered that money be

Mrs. Morleys songs were
first sung in public last
spring at Music Week pro
grams at Silverton. At that
time they proved very popu
lar with the Silverton audi
ences. Since then , they hairs
been published by the Frank
Harding company of New
York and have now made
their appearance on the Sil
verton market. They are in

well school house Friday evening.

Adolph Hensel had the misfor
tune of breaking three of his
wheels Sunday while motoring in
Salem. No one was badly Hurt.

Aumsville high school who were
absent last week were: Marie Hls
el. Mabel Sherman, Yvonne Pick
ell. Arlene Booek and Helen Sher
man. Mr. Robertson was quite ill the
last few days.

The club will make aprons this
month. A meeting is planned for

Mrs. G. R. Dissmore.
Mr. and Mrs. Pursey Varney of
Salem spent Thursday visiting at

teachers association, left for Spo
kane, Tuesday evening, where ho
will address a meeting of the la
land Empire Teachers association
meeting there this week. Mr.

SALEM HEIGHTS, April 8
Dr. Fred Burger who purchased
a rive acre tract from the Salem
Heights school board, known as
the quarry site, is erecting a
email bungalow on the property.
The doctor has steadily been im
proving it since he bought it.
One corner of the property has
a natural spring and lake, which
he has stocked with trout. This
depression will be rocked and
made into a sunken garden. In a
year or two he is intending to
build a larger home and will make
his tract one of the beauty spots
near Salem.
Harvey Fasching 1b building an
addition to his home on Ewald
avenue and is making other im
provements on his acreage.
Mrs. C. M. Robinson who has
been confined to her bed on ac
count of illness is now able to sit
up and is much better.

Mrs. H. S. Bond entertained Fri
day evening for members of the
club, called "Miss Pope's School."
Mrs. R. Lee Theissen read an orig
inal poem, giving the history of I
the club and its members.
Mrs. E. C. Bear gave a book
review on "The Cabin of Trails
End" by Sheba Hargraves. which
rives the historical setting of I
Oregon City. L. D. Roberts gave
several original humorous rhymes.
Plans were made for the next
meeting. May 2. If the weather
nermits a lawn social will be
held.
