The new club group has chosen to call itself the Three F club. Following an afternoon of con versation and sewing, the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Elmo Rennet and Mrs. Elmer Lewis, served dainty refreshments to the special guest of the afternoon, Mrs. Alice New ell, and other members. "Graceful Frock of Crepe" Thursday Club f Dallas Picnics , DALLAS, July 20. Following its usual custom, members of the Thursday afternoon club, the old est social club in Dallas, held its annual picnic supper for their f; lilies in the city park on Thurs day evening. When it became dark, W. V. Fuller, who is with the educational division of the state forestry service showed sev eral reels of motion pictures, one of them depicting the winning of the west, one Indian scenes in the Mt. Adams country, another of Oregon scenery, a special one for the boys ad girls of the "Smiling Pool" and its little friends the dragon fly, the frog, the turtle' an dred tail the hawk. Riley The Minnesota club will hold its annual picnic August 4 at Ha ger's grove this year. In the ab sence of the club president. Dr. J. O. Hall, M. D. Stegner wHl pre- Lside and P. S. McKenzie will be present to lead the singing. P. O. Riley, editor of the Hubbard Enterprise, will make the address of the day. Other features of the program will be announced later, Mrs. E. Winkns announced her engagement to Scott E. Smith at a dinner at which Dr. and Mrs. E. McDanields of Portland were hosts at the Benson hotel in Portland last Thursday evening. The wed ding will be an event of early Sep tember. Mrs. Winans is the owner of the Hollywood Auto company. Mr. Smith is also associated with the automobile business in Salem. Legion. Auxiliary Schedule Is Extensive The American Legion auxiliary quartet will appear at a numoer of occasions soon. Three engagements have been scheduled for.the quar tet this week. Tuesday morning the group, will sing over station KGW at 8 o'clock. Tuesday evening they will ap pear befpre the Joint meeting of the American Legion and the Aux iliary committee for the Legion and Auxiliary conventions which will be held here August 8, 9 , and 10. The joint committee meeting will be hejd at 8 o'clock in the Elk's club. Friday evening the quartet will -sing at the Realtor's convention banquet at the armory. The quartet includes Mrs. Rob ert Wyatt,- first soprano; Mrs. B. C. ' Bo we, second soprano. Mrs. Marie Robertson, first alto and Mrs. Walter Zosel, second soprano. Auxiliary plaps for the conven tion include an extensive program for entertaining, the largest even of which will be the garden party at the Clifford Brown home on Mission street during the after noon of August 8 between the hours of 2 and 4 o'clock. Mrs. Jesse George and Mrs. Clifford Brown are effecting plans for this event that will make it the out standing affair of the week. All the delegates to the convention from the 70 units that comprise the state organization will be invited. About 100 guests are being ar ranged for at both the secretaries' breakfast at the Gray Belle, Fri day morning and the presidents' dinner at the Elks' club Friday evening. For transportation to the air port dedication and the barbecue there Thursday, busses" will be chartered. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis left for a short wedding trip immediately after the reception which follow ed the wedding ceremony.
