EXCEEDS AUTHORITY
DEPARTMENTS MAY SELECT
OWN AUTO INSURANCE
The state board of control ex
ceeded its authority when it at
tempted to require all other state
departments and Institutions to
purchase a particular automobile
policy designated by the board.
This was the substance of an opin
ion banded, down here Friday by
the attorney general.
The board of control obtains for
a $11 premium a policy allowing
up to 110.000 Indemnity for in
juries to one person, up to $20,000
cor injuries to more than one per
son and $1000 property damage.
Acting under an act of the last
legislature- the board of control
held that It had authority to pur
chase protection on automobile
ror an state departments.
The attorney general ruled that
the legislature apparently did not
intend to vest this power in tht
board.
The opinion was sought by tht
public service commission.
