Janu ary 18. This excellent group has been in the Salem community once before and attracted considerable favorable comment at that time. Vaughn, who organized this band, is a Salem product and at one time studied law at Willam ette university. Later he gave up his law work for music. For some time he travelled with Victor Myer's band and with George Ol- sen's band. After a short time he conceived the idea of organizing his own band, which he imme diately proceeded to do. The Columbia band is composed of ten musicians. One very inter- lestlng novelty about the group is tnat they all play several different Instruments and not ouly may be called a baud but also a first t-lass orchestra. An added feature is the singing trio aud they furnish considerable entertainment with their lively selections. Every member of the group is an artist in bis line and so music and entertainment of a very high class naturally results.
