S For the musical development of Salem. It is good business to make Salem a musical center, and it Is of the highest cultural value. The work of putting the Ore gon Linen Mills, Inc., in line to become a thoroughly going con cern, and a profitable one, ought not be allowed to lag. Why de lay? Ivan Stewart had a number of worth while things to say at the chamber of 'commerce noon meet ing yesterday. There is every reason for bringing the industries on the land in .the Salem district up to their potential possibilities. This will be the work of 'several generations, but a great deal may be done by this one. Mr. Stewart believes this is a live stock valley. With' major irrigation projects,' after which will follow beet sugar factories. this-, will become a live stock val ley very fast.
