Regular Meeting of Marion County Veterans Association on Thursday Every patriotic order of the county is asked to send delegates to the regular all-day meeting of the Marion County Veterans Association which will be held on Thursday at Silverton. A business session, with elec tion of officers, will be held at ten-thirty o'clock; a picnic dinner served at noon; and a program and entertainment will be given in the afternoon by the members of the Silverton W. R. C. Writer's Club Will Meet at Lisle Home The members of the Writer's section of the Salem Arts League will meet this evening at six thirty o'clock for a picnic supper at the, home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Lisle, 1021 South Thirteenth Street. Rev. and Mrs. Ward Leave For Month's Vacation Rev. and Mrs. Charles E. Ward, and their three sons, Billy, Donald and Charles, Jr., left Monday by motor on a month's vacation trip. They will go by way of the Mc Kenzie Pass and will spend several days' on the Metolius River and at Wallowa Lake. Rev. and . Mrs. Ward will then go into Washing ton where they will be gueets of Mr. Ward's parents for the re mainder of the month. The re turn will be made through Rainier National Park. Ladies of the G. A. R. Weathers, 17 year old Salem youth living at 1155 Church street. Weathers waived a hear inc and the case was bound over to the grand Jury. ' . Young Weathers -purchased an auto from the Valley Motor com pany on July 21, giving a check for $180 as first payment. When the check was presented at the bank, it 1 was found that the youth had no account there. Meanwhile Weathers had left Salem with the car. on an extend ed trip. On bis return to Salem Saturday, he was arrested on complaint of the ' Valley Motor company. Bail was set at $1,500. which the youth's father refused ta fur nish, and he is. being held in. the county .jail. For months the oficer has tried to find out what happened to the little chalk marks he placed on tires of parked auto mobiles to show which stayed the time limit.
