Finch of Grays Harbor permitting port districts to construct railways and to annex part' of pther port dis tricts were reported out favorably late this afternoon by a majority of four of the .senate horbors and waterways committee. There are several amendments to the bllL The port of Grays Harbor con templates the building of a rail road ' to tap timber and mineral lands in the Olympic peninsula. Delegations from' Port Angeles, in Clallam county on the northern end of the peninsula, appeared at a public hearing and protested against the bills, declaring that they would, give Grays Harbor an undue share of. commerce from the peninsula. BHI Repealing Peddlers' -License Tax Passes Senate The senate yesterday passed a roads and- highway committee bll eliminating commercial salesmen from the operation of the so-called peddlers motor vehicle license tax.' Under this law commercial trav elers were . "compelled to pay a motor ' vehicle license fee 50 per cent in excess of the license fee assessed against other vehicles. . The new bill, in addition to re pealing the peddlers license tax, fixes the last half of the year for securing motor vehicle licenses as of June 1. Under the present law .the last half of the : year begins July 1. The last half license fee under the new act wonld be based on 60 per cent of the total license fee. .
