A report bronrht in by the fish

Salem Rod and
regular meeting
held last night in
the Chamber of
Commerce rooms charged that the
Mill creek Is so obstructed at the
present time that' fish are unable
to go up the stream to reach the
upper spawning grounds. The ob
structions placed In the stream by
the state at the penitentiary were
attacked In the report, although it
was alleged that private dams con
stitute an illegal: obstruction.
Only the fish in the best of con
dition are able to get through the
"pen" dam, it is! said, and mem
bers of the coirimtttee reported
finding a lS-inch fill net and other
fishing apparatus ln the pond Just
below the pen walls. Other ob
structions were isaid to be the
Salem Ice Works dam, and the
dam located near; State street, al
though . according to the report
these could easily be remedied by
slight work in improving the lad
ders. ' A club committee was ap
pointed to take the matter np with
the state fish and game commis
sion to effect a remedy.
A committee wits also appointed
to attend the meeting of .the state

According to) announcement
made by club members the propo
sition of securing a new club

tor members of the club7, and be-
urin a permanent location for
the trophy won by the local club
in competition frith the Eugene
