The ob structions placed In the stream by the state at the penitentiary were attacked In the report, although it was alleged that private dams con stitute an illegal: obstruction. Only the fish in the best of con dition are able to get through the "pen" dam, it is! said, and mem bers of the coirimtttee reported finding a lS-inch fill net and other fishing apparatus ln the pond Just below the pen walls. Other ob structions were isaid to be the Salem Ice Works dam, and the dam located near; State street, al though . according to the report these could easily be remedied by slight work in improving the lad ders. ' A club committee was ap pointed to take the matter np with the state fish and game commis sion to effect a remedy. A committee wits also appointed to attend the meeting of .the state fish and game com mission at Port land in connection with the Ore ron Sportsmen's association. , According to) announcement made by club members the propo sition of securing a new club house and Increasing ' the social functions of the clab will be some of the topics of discussion at the next regular meeting.
