Sarah Ann s Wilson passed on, Peacefully and without suffering, surrounded hy loving relatives and friends at her home, 445 Chemek- eta street. Mrs. Wilson was born in Arkansas December 4. 1837 and. came across the plains in .1845 with her father, Alvis Smith, and mother. The family first oc cupied a claim at Tualatin Plains. Theyhad come down the Columbia river, as many early ploneera did on a raft, landing at Portland but later, bought a farm home - one mile from the WiUanxette .river north of Salem. She was united'ln marrage with, the late John Q. Wijson' and-' they acquired a new peine arid a large t tract of land nearVHepner, Morrow county in the sixties, and-lived there for many years. Mr. Wilson became a pr?m,nen man.filllng the office's or county ; judge and representative inv eastern Oregon counties, and Marion county. They removed to' Salem but retained ' their! property in-Eastern Oregon. Mrs. Wilson was one of a family of ten children the only one surviving . being her brother, John W. Smith, of Wheat land. The Alvis Smitk family were members of the Christian church. Mrs.' Wilson-was one of the first Oregon women tor become inter ested in the Christian Science movement. She remained an : ac tive leader and practiciorier to the end 5 of ' her days,k demonstrating every step of her life the healing ! power of Divine Love. She be came an avowed member of the organixation in the early "eighties, haying , studied the doctrines of Mrs. Eddy on their first publica tion in serial form.
