There will be a general discussion of plans for the federation during the coming year. OFFICER IN FIST FIGHT REMOVES GUN AND STAR, BATTLES, ARRESTS SELF KLAMATH FALLS, Or., Feb. 20. (By 'Associated Press.)- Following an altercation with Leo Popovich, whom he had arrested some time ago on a liquor charge, Traffic Officer R. E. Knowles to day removed gun, star and Bap and fought It out with Popovich in a doctor's office here. Follow- ing the fight, Knowles then went before a magistrate, arrested him self, pleaded guilty and was fined $10. Thirty-six men were present. The meeting opened at 6:30 with a dinner at the Elks Temple, after the dinner the men ad journing to the Parish House of St. Pauls church, where they were divided into patrols, each patrol being under the leadership of a selected patrol leader.- The men acting as patrol ' leaders were: George Bent of ' Chemawa, Her bert Erickson of Salem, .who had for his assistant G. H..Oberteuffer, scout executive of Portland, Rex San ford.- scoutmaster of troop1 2, Salem, and Glen Macy, district commissioner of McMlnnville. L Inter patrol contests were held during the evening and the men received some very fine ideas that they are going to put into effect in their own troops. Mr. , Walsh cave a snlendid talk entitled "24 Tricks of Troop Leadership." La ter in the evening the men were divided into three groups as fol lows: Court of Honor members. Scoutmasters and assistants and local council members. .These groups conferred with Walsh,, Ob erteuffer and Ware on their spe cial problems and given clear ideas as to their Job1 in scouting. After this a final' summary of the course was given by Mr. Walsh songs were sung and Troop 99. of Salem was disbanded. Adams Advanced to Life Scout At the February meeting of. the Court of Honor held last Wed nesday at the county court house Scout Howard Adams was ad vanced to the rank, of Life Scout. Adams is' a member of Salem Troop No. 1.' and : now has thir teen Merit badges and at the rate he is going it will not be mAny months before 'he will reach the rank of Eagle Scout, It Is hoped that more of the Salem scouts will follow this fine example.
