SAVE RUBBER, WARNING
.-. , . i .. - - --.- -
American rfirats may have
TO PA V HIGHER MUCKS
LONDON, Dee. 15. (By Asso
ciated Press.) Clarence V. Bar
ren, president of the Wall Street
Journal, in an interview given on
the eve of his departure for Amer
ica tomorrow, said that American
rubber users have acted too late
in dealing with the rubber situa
tion and mar consider themselves
lucky if they do not have to pay
still higher prices. He. advised
the saving and utilizing of all the
old rubber in sight. 1
. Mr. Barron said that several
months ago he had advised Amer
icans that the United States ought
to cooperate in the proposals for
stabilizing price of rubber at IS
pence (36 cents) a pound. (Rub
ber la selling today at slightly
morexhaitll a pound.) . i
He said he had told American
users that rubber plantations were
going to pieces because of low
prices prevailing at that time, that
there was no new planting and
that increased consumption of
rubber by the United States was
going right ahead. "I pointed
out Chat no new plantations could
be productive in less than six
years and that by low prices and
prices below the cost of produc
tion we were destroying the rub
ber foundation under our great
and growing motor industry," he
said. "American manufacturers,
however, denounced the 18 pence
stabilization proposal and now
they are paying the penalty."

Miami. Florida, and a member of
the Miami, Key West and Key
Iargo chambers - of commerce,
talks both sanely and wisely when
he says:
v That, the town lot boom of
Florida which is being given so
much publicity is giving many peo
ple the impression that Florida
consists of town lots only, when
the truth is that the real success
of Florida is not based upon what
everybody Js talking about, but Is
based upon fruit and truck grow
ing and the building of Industries
that build better payrolls.
That last year Florida produced
20,000 cars of grape fruit which
went to every section of the United
States and Canada.
That last year .Florida shipped
33.000 cars of oranges, and the
United States and Canada could
consume twice that amount if they
were available.

According to Mormon church

Tr , Y. about the year A. D. 500,
Levi . Edgar Young, professor of
western history at the University
of . Utah, said when the statement
of Ir.. Kimball was read- to him.

went from there. It was possible
Professor Young said, that they
might have gone to Arizona.
