A stage setting ot particular effectiveness was arranged for the .cession by Byron Lieuallan, dec- orator for Miller's, Salem's lead ing department store, by means of lavish drapes, special ' lighting effects, and 'appropriately placed ferneries. Orthophonic music, furnished through the courtesy of Giese-Powers furniture company, gave diversion to the evening. The style display kepi-as its keynote the costume in its en tirety the proper accessories show ing -with, and completing each garb. The first model of the evening appeared in an Epinard green rubber raincoat, worn with hat to match, fancy scarf, and galoshes. : vc w U UVU UUJU'UJ &AY " BAY R R A SPIRIN" -,GrMuine. . f ?t met? r-ia caa a a -.-. x- 4 11 x . 4 J w aawfc getting the genuine Bayer Aspirin prescribed by physi cians and proved safe by millions over 25 years for Colds. The fashionable, jacquette Is . most often of silver . muskrat, beaver ette, and. sealine with ' squirrel trim, while the long coat was a thing of rich beauty when of Hudson seal, sealine, beaverette or silver muskrat, with fox trim. Sportswear, which followed par ticularly featured the Balbriggens the knitted materials and the flannels. Many attractive street models were displayed with crepe back satins, flat crepes, and char- meens favorite among' the materials- The winter style season predicts much popularity for the Bokhara, the new cocoa, the Flemish blue, and the Lanvin green as far as the realm of shades is concerned. Styles vary Tom the straight-line to the cir cular and flare effects. Many attractive choices were modeled in afternoon dresses. made of the finer georgettes and cut-velvets. Colors in dinner gowns arranged all the way from black to the delicate pastel hues and in styles from the simple to the elegant. The .party frocks and evening dresses merited much admiration. Two models in white were espe cially applauded. - The first fea tured the tight basque andpe taled skirt, elaborately beaded, and with floral trim. The second. of crepe Bomaine. was cut with fall apron-effect front, heavily beaded, and adorned with sold lace. The lines called for a deep V" In both back and front. Necklaces of pearl beads and sil ver slipper enhanced these cos tumes. The negligees were exotic and dainty. One of the most elab orate was of heavy novelty silk with much fluffy rust ostrich for trim. Another, of turquoise blue over maize with a hem-border of appliqued roses, was delightfully feminine. A third garment com bined violet with turquoise blue and exhibited the new wing sleeves. A rich striped silk proved the favorite , material used for Pullman robes. Much cleverly applied embroidery was. used In the newer pajama modes, black combining with cherry, both very elaborately embroidered, making one set distinctive, while Chinese stenciling, featuring birds and odd oriental characters, gave per sonality to numbers more. Much credit for the outstand ing success of. tbe.event.is due to Mrs. Affie Hanna, buyer for the firm, and her quartet of charm-, lng models, who displayed the garments to such advantage.
