PORTLAND SILK SHOP 4M State Street 383 Alder Street "There 4s at present more pros perity in Salem than any where else in the state," was the asser tion made by Will Moore, state real estate commissioner, in ad dressing the Marlon-Polk county realtors at their weekly luncheon Thursday. "A good road from Salem to Sil ver Creek Fails would be a money maker for the city. Such scenic beauty in California would be made to net a large income an nually through attracting tourist patronage." He spoke on the new real estate law that is to go into effect the first of the year, revealing that the law was introduced by Fred German, representative of Multno mah county, at the last, legisla ture, and that the bill was insti gated by the Portland realty board. "When the law is in effect," he said, those selling standing timber must be licensed." Some of the provisions of the new law are that each realtor must give $1000 bond;. the broker must pay 17.50 for his license and the salesman $5. The salesman is defined as the man working for the broker. If the broker's license is revoked, or suspended, the license of the salesman working-for him is auto matically , suspended" iintil he shows that "he has made connec tions with another broker. "This year," Mr. Moore de clared, "there were 300 more li censes issued than in any year previous, the total now amounting to more. than 2800 licenses." ': Mr. j Moore answered - several questions put; to him by the realtors,- telling in answer to one ol them that there have been two or three suspensions and revocations of licenses during the past year, the main1 offense being the retain ing of earnest money after the deal has fallen through not due to the fault of the payer of the money. Hyslop of OAC, in company with those present at the meeting, went over the various sites that have been offered for the flax demonstration that is to be conducted in that vicinity by OAC. Prof. Hyslop has not made the final selection of the site, but the number has been re duced to three. The Aumsville community will donate the site for the purpose of the demonstration.
