He went to the Over ton school for the blind, at, Phila delphia where he graduated at twenty two years of age ' . .. .1 TT u yu graduation he came to Salem1 to teach at the state school for the blind. At the blind school he met Miss Ethel Harding, who - was also teaching in the school, and soon after they were married. He had not been in Salem long when he was chosen organist at the First Methodist church, and he has fil led that position up to the present time. So successful was he at the organ that in 19 IS he was elected instructor of pipe organ at Wil lamette university, and soon gave up : his post at the blind school, now taking private pupils besides his university work. "When It is possible," writes Dr., Doney in his article, which h has entitled "Tommy Roberts, With Sight Destroyed, Achieved Success as Music Professor in Col lege,' for a blind Welsh immig rant to turn tragedy Into triumph, both getting and giving the dur able satisfactions of life, it some how raises the question if it is not time for a lot of us to push hard luck. out.,of the way and do some driving ahead."
