(By Associated Press. ) Investigation of the wreck of the airship Sheti andoah was practically concluded today with the hearing of i the de signer' of the craft, an engineer of the bureau of aeronautics "and the technical director of the Aluminum company of America, which furnished the metal fram ing for the craft. 11 ! Counsel for the survivors of the Shenandoah and the bureau of aeronautics scored important points today in theiif efforts to break down the theoTy of Qapt. Anton Heiflen, former German zeppelin pilot, that! structural changes in the airshipj contributed measurably to her destruction, C P. Burgess, an engineering expert in the bnr-au of aeronaut ics, conceded that, in! the way, of new gas valves, installation was operated by the crew during the storm, probably less! stress was exerted on the structure than would have been the jcase had ihe original automatic system been in operation. He refused to concede.! however, that the new Installation was su perior to the original, explaining that he did not concur in the de cision of the bureauj to Imake the alteration because he did not like to change from a mechanical to a human element for the! safety of the ship. j FIRST INITIATION HELD IN NEW TEMPLE CorfInn! from pa l- j - ! t wj so at last nights meeting. . A, surprise finish leaves an .audience convinced that the art of make-up is a wonderful thing. The making of smoke pictures ha reached the stage of perfec tion where the art is more inter esttng than the old style of mak ine pictures with crayon or paint. Stuart Darrow is deservedly recrt oned the foremost artist In this line. His latest and original nov elty fe to cover two large plates with smoke, and pictures are pro duced by rubbing out the back ground. Some very remarkable shadows are cast from his fingers and htand. A brilliant company of six grace ful girls comprise the Elida ballet. one of the most sensational dance offerings in vaudeville. The pro gram they deliver runs the entire gamut, of terpiscbore. While sev eral niames are featured in the billing, it wouli be an injustice to clasfeify them as principals and the rest as subordinates, for every member of the company contrib utes generously to the success of the production. Special mention, however, must be made of Adele Jeanne, the premiere danseuse. who contributes some sensational Oriental numbers. The act opens with a doll bandit, introducing stolen dolls, and as the curtain rises the Dutch. Soldier. French and Raggedy Ann dolls are shown. and thev eo right into a mechani cal doll dance. Trout and Heff, two men who eall themselves "Two Black Snasras," are a sure cure for the blues. They have style and man jierisms all their own and inter mingling their special comedy songs make the turn one of the best two-man blackface acts on the road. They indulge In the low-brow type of colored comedy, singing special comedjr songs that are distinctly original and humor ous, especially, the. elosdng pnet in which they 'work in topical! verses on local conditions . and events. They seem to have an end jess ar ray of these verses- for tljey are ever ready to respond to as many eurtain calls as-4.hey receive, and which is usually plenty.
