Ahead of 1924 Now Sustained demand and a grow ing list of unfilled orders ha caused the Chevrolet Motor com pany to Increase heavily its pro duction schedule during Septem ber ; The schedule revision involves an increase of more than 16 over the production program orig inally planned for. September. The new schedule calls for 52,165 mo tor cars and trucks in September, a Chevrolet record for that month and only 3,078 less than the high est production month In the his tory of the company. Both day and night shifts have been augmented to maintain the new schedule. The company ship ped 4.284 cars to dealers on Aug ust 31, establishing a new record 600 higher than the largest pre vious shipment for one day. . The company, which recently made its two-millionth car. at tained during August a greater production thus far for 1925 than the entire production of 1924. Several factors have contribut ed to the unprecedented demand according to C. E. Dawson, assist ant general sales manager of the Chevrolet Motor company.1. , "The August 1 reduction of $40 to $50 in the closed model prices together with the announcement of the improvements 'on all models caused a still further increase in the unfilled order list," said Mr. Dawson. "The greatest demand at present appears to be for the Chevrolet coach. The first question that pre-, sents itself in making a study of the Chrysler plan of lowered fin ance charges and.-reduced insur ance rates on Chrysler cars sold on the deferred payment basis, says Mr. Johnson, Is "whether this, certificate of Insurance Is a do mestic or foreign contract, that is whether it is Jan Alabama or a Michigan contract. In my opinion it is so obvious as to require no further arguments, discussion, nor citation 'of authority, that it is a foreign contract made in Michigan between parties' in Michigan, and subject to the tex loci contractus, which in this dase is the law of the State of Michigan. . "In the second .place," continues Mr. Johnson. Is ; the .. Chrysler dealer to be deemed an insurance agent by reason; of his negotiating a sate of ; a ear; waicn nas oeen made' subject of this insurance, and hence is he required to ob tain an insurance license? ! "Chrysler dealers have absolute ly nothing to do with the contract between the Chrysler Corporation and the Palmetto Fire Insurance company. They solicit no insur ance," continues Mr. Johnson, "have no connection or corres- a ponJence with the Palmetto com pany, did not put the Insurance aa. the -car and cannot take it off. They do not receive or transmit the certificate of insurance, nor do they collect or remit any pre miums, nor did they do any act or thing in the! making or consum mating of the contract of insur ance., . w. . .
