From Salem to Astoria the road is paved the entire distance. Astoria is 157 miles from Sa Is' V ,Z - irftl - v ' 1 lem, i " - To reach the I Washington beaches proceed to the foot of Fourteenth street i where ; is located the dock of the Astoria North Beach Auto Ferry which operates between Astoria and Point Ellis. Wash. I At the pre sent tim ferry leaves at 8 a. m., 1 p. m., 3 p. m.. and 2:20 p. m., for Point Ellis distant 5 miles and requiring 30 minutes for passage. After June 25 ferry will operate on an hourly- sched ule with capacity for 32 cars and 496 passengers. From Point Ellis, Wash., dock to McGowan Postoffice ; is a dis tance of 1.5 miles, the road tor this distance having been rocked Just recently, but from here on to the end of one trail this road .i " if J v o v mf.- Here is a road log giving the dis tances from place to place up the McKenzie. You will find this a helpful guide if you are planning a trip to any of the resorts. From Salem ria Rickreall and Corvallis or by Albany-Corvallis the distance to Eugene is 78 miles. All paved. The right hand road after crossing the McKenzie river bridge leads to Foley Springs which is 4 miles off the main highway. Continuing on up the highway for -five miles you arrive at the road which forks off to Belknap springs. . Belknap springs Is one mile off the highway or 139 miles from Salem. This ia the end of our trail but the finished highway continues for 13 miles above Belk nap springs. The road is graded and passible to 'Bend when the snow is off.
