Poultry Demand Heavy
For the first time during the
year, local restaurant ! men were
forced to send to Portland for
dressed poultry to satisfy their
customers., Heretofore, the local
product and supply has been suffi
cient to supply the market. Due
to the scarcity of the heavy hens,
in the: Hre ' and dressed poultry
markets, the price has been raised
three or four cents a pound. 1

Classwork Resumes
Class work will be resumed at
Willamette university Monday.
Classes have been dismissed since
Friday, March 20, for the rlgular
spring vacation. Only a small
number of students remained In
town, except resident students, al
though none ct the bouses or Lau-
sane hall were able to lose com

Snow Covers Ground
During the week-end snow cov
ered the" ground near the Silver
Creek, falls, according -to word
brought here by visitors. Tike snow
was not deep, hut of sufficient
depth to cover the ground. Trav
elers are able to get within three
miles of the falls before the roads
become Impassible. The Journey
requires more gas than usual due
to the bad conditions of the road
way. "

Earl Newbill, who has been soda
dispenser at the Spa confectionery
during the past two years, has
been transferred to Valsets where
he will manage a store during the

night. The question will be "Re
solved that congress should be al
lowed to re-enact legislation de

supreme court. This is the second
debate of this kind that the team

Governor Pierce was within the
valid exercise of legal power of his
office in vetoing an item of 120,
000 in the capital outlay of the

handed down Monday by Attorney
General Van Winkle. The opinion

has just concluded a visit through
