Representing Chemeketa chap ter of the Daughters of the Amer ican Revolution tomorrow morn ing in Portland at the state board meeting will be:'5 Mrs. Seymour Jones, state regent, who will pre side; Mrs. Elmo S. White, state corresponding secretary; Mrs. La Molne R. Clark, state chairman of the patriotic education committee and Mrs. Russell Catlin, regent of Chemeketa chapter. The patrons of Zena. the oldest school district fin Polk county, have organized; a community clnb and will hold 'their first program thig evening at the school house. W. A. Delzell, private secretary to Governor .Walter M. Pierce, has been secured as speaker for the evening. There will be other pro gram numbers in addition. Re freshments will l be served. Of especial interest to all in the dis trict is the fact that, though the courtesy of Frank Crawford who has a private plant of high vol tage, that a line has been extend ed to the school house, with the result that the ' building now is completely wired. While the regular monthly meet ing of the community club will be held ordinarily On the third Fri day of each month, the meeting is planned for tonight in order that the meeting for the first month of the year will not have to be omitted. The committee for the first meeting includes: Wayne Henry, Ralph Shepherd, and Mrs. James French,' The charter oHicers are: Frank Crawford, president; Ralph Scott, secretary; and 'Miss Louisa Pat rick, treasurer. ; Mrs. C. I. Adams ; entertained the Book and Thimble club last week when a group of the mem bers met for a most pleasant after noon at her home on the King wood ; Heights' road. The rooms were attractively decorated with the season's greenery The main feature of the' day was the round table discussion on ".What the Legislature Is Doing.' Much at tention, was also given at this time to the Child Labor amend ment. Later a Spelling match was conducted by Mrs. Adams, with a prize given. Mrs. .F. H. Bentley introduced an advertisement puz zle contest which kept the mem bers busy for half an hour, the re-, suits bringing much' merriment. Mrs. M. Gehlar was the success ful one in this contest. ' Mrs, I. F. Brown and Mrs. E. Pattison Sang a duet, after, which the club quartet gave several se lections out of, the club's new song book. Mrs. Charles Schwartz as sisted the hostess In serving.
