Glover, Attorneys for Executrix, Salem. Oregon. n23-30d6-13-20 T AIL BE State Market Agent Calls Farmers' Attention to Re quirement of Law ; by C. E. Spence, State Market Agent: The warehouse law of Oregon requires every warehouse taking in grain to be bonded and to oper ate under a license obtained from the grain inspection department. The bond is required in order to safeguard farmers storing their grain. Tne license is merely a re ceipts that bond has been furnish ed and to show to the public that the warehouse is operating accord ing to law. A few warehouses In the state have not yet complied with the law, and from what can be learned from different sources are operat ing without a license. The pen alty for. operating without a li cense is $50 a day. AH licenses terminate July 1, and if not re newed promptly, places the ware house liable to the" fine when ever it operates without a license. y It would not only be the act of a good citizen, but really his duty, for any one to report to the state market agent any Irregular ity in the warehouse business. If there is a warehouse In the state of Oregon receiving grain from farmers and operating without a license, those farmers storing grain in such warehouse have no protection for loss or theft. ' These warehouses are licensed from the grain inspection depart ment and delinquencies should be reported to the state market agent 723 ? Court House, Portland, as such report might be the means of saving himself or neighbor from heavy loss. How much can Germany pay?
