Horner of route 5. while going west on State yester day reported that he was struck by a motorist who was going north 6a Liberty. The front axle on the Horner car was: bent. Otherwise no damage was dona. Plans Submitted f Preliminary plans for the ad dition to the Salem high school were filed yesterday at the city superintendent's office. Thise will be considered by the board at the next meeting. F. A. Legge is the architect. The new plans call, for an addition to face Church street extending j south 100 feet. Work will begin as soon as the plans are complete and bids submitted. It is ex pected to have - it completed by the opening of school in October. The buildings now 'occupying the ground on which the addition will stand will be moved within a (few; weeks. : , a closed and not a public meel inf. The first session convenes at 2i o'clock this afternoon and the second at 8 this evening. Gov ernor Walter M. Pierce, for years a member' of the lodge, is to ad dress the session this evening, and Chemekcta lodge is to ex emplify the third degree work. All towns in the county will be represented and there shou:d ho eeveral hundred visitors in all. State Taxes Paid Clatsop county has turned over in full its. first half qC state taxes tor this ' year, amounting to 5104.221.18. Heavy Loss Reported ' The Spokane, Portland & Seat tle Railroad company, in its an nual report to the public service commission, reports a loss of $1, 576,164.32 on its net income. Bodwell, insane ex-sOl-dief who has been. causing much trouble to state and federal au thorities is again, under arrest at Albany, according to informa tion received today by Dr. R. E. L. Steiner, superintendent of the state hospital for the insane. Bodwell was committed to the Salem institution from Linn coun ty. He escaped and returned 'to Linn county i where e was ar rested, but the federal authori ties refused to send for him. Ar rangements were then made I to recommit him to the Oregon hos pital, but in the ( meantime he escaped again. Of the total number of accidents reported 59 4 were subject to the provis ions? of the workmen's compen sation act. 28 were from firms and corporations that have: re jected the act and eight were from public utility corporations not subject to the act. McCIellan against Jennie I. McCIellan, alleging de sertion. According to the com plaint the defendant deserted the plaintiff and two small children about 34' and. 2 years old re spectfully.
