Van Winkle, attorney gen eral. has advised. the state board of medical examiners in an opin ion that the . statute protiding that thet license of ,an osteopathic physician and , surgeon shall not authorize the - holder to prescribe or use, drugs or to perform inajor or operative surgery, is modified by an amendment passed in 19 17. i ne amendment provides mat per sons holding licenses to practice osteopathy in Oregon are aathor lzed to perform major or opera tive surgery If that is embraced in subjects covered by ex tion of applicants for licenses The opinion further hold that the amendment of 1917 did not repeal the provision of the) old law that the license of an osteo pathic physician and surgeon shall not authorize its holder to prescribe or use drugs, except to the extent that - the licensee Is privileged to nse anesthetics and antiseptics.
