ered 'that a Japanese arrested on
a charge of assault and battery,
had passed a $50c ounterfeit bill
upon the desk, sergeant for bail,
had accepted a bail receipt for
2i and change of $25, and then
walked outpt the station.
Police did not discover that the
bill was counterfeit until the end
of the day, when efforts were
made to deposit ft with other bail
money In a bank.
The Japanese, Kama Takamo
ri, waa arrested again in less than
an hour and held for investiga
tion, without bail until the mat
ter has been explained. The
original charge of assault had
been preferred by his wife. He
told the police he did not know
the bill was counterfeit, and that
it had ..been given him y some
other man. Police removed, from
his person the $25 in "good mon
ey" that 'had been given him as
change.-
