She used i' to keen her hair beautifully dark glossy and attractive. - Whenever her hair took on that dull, faded or streaked appearance, this sim pie mixture was applied, with wonderful effect. But brewing at home Is mussy and out of date. Nowadays, b: asking at any drug store for a bottle of "Wyeth's Sag and Sul phur Compound," you will get this famous old preparation, im proved by the addition of other ingredients, which can be depend ed upon to restore natural color and beauty to the hair. A well-known downtown drug gist says it darkens the hair so naturally and evenly that nobodj can tell It has been applied. Yon simply dampen a sponge or soft brush with it and draw this through your hair, taking one strand at a time. By morning thf gray hair disappears, and after another application ,or two it be comes beautifully dark and glos sy. Depositors Are Protected By Special Committeemen To forestall efforts of shysters and "hucksters" from swindling depositors in the closed State Bank ot Portland Is the object o a 'committee representing the de positors, appointed hy Frank C Bramwell, state superintendent of banks, and which was here yester day In conference with Bramwell and Attorney General Van Wink It is said unscrupulous specc lators are endeavoring to induce many of the depositors to assign to them their accounts at consid eratlons as low as 10 per cent, and In nearly all cases below 40 per cent. The committee's purpose is to stop this pending efforts to r organize the bank for which time has been extended by the bank superintendent to May 1. The members of he. committee conferring here today with th state officials are E. 13. Uarthrop chairman; Otto R. Hartvig and Sudney C. Graham. Tb contract for furnishing the 1923 motor vehicle, botorcycle and dealers' license plates and chauffeur badges was yesterday awarded by Sam A. Kozer. secre tary of state, to the Irwin-Hodsoii company, Portland, on the basis of 14 1-2 "cents per pair or set for motor vehicle licenses; 39 1-4 cents per pair or set for motor cycle licenses; 2G:34 cents per pair or set for motor vehicle deal ers' licenses; and 12 1-S cents each for chauffeur badges. This bid is about 3 i-4 cents less per pair or set than the con tract for 1922 license plates for motor vehicles which was let about one year ago to the same company. The Irwin-Hodson com pany has been manufacturing the Oregon license plates since 19 16. The award was based on quality and time ot delivery, which is a very essential requirement of the contract. There was one other bidder, a Los Angeles company, with a slightly lower bid of .1395 cents, but as Oregon manufactur ers are permitted a five per cent differential, the preponderance was in favor of the Oregon bidder. Taking this factor into consider ation, with the superior quality ot the article or product, the award was made to the Oregon manufac turer. A total of 130,000 plates will be included in the first order. While a greater number of license plates will be required for 1923 than for the year 1922, yet the cost will be less in the aggregate. Colors selected for 1923 licenses are a dark blue background and white figures and letters.
