Trade and High The farmersvof the Salem district must raise more and more of the legumes. There is nothing else "just as good;" nothing else that will do; nothing else that can take nitrates out of the air and leave them in the soil for its renovation Nothing else that can furnish the necessary late summer bee pasture to maintain the little workers that are absolutely necessary for the pollination of the fruit blossoms to make certain the production of fruit crops. The farmers must get it into their noodles that the nodules arc invaluable. All the well known legumes do well here But the big thing, for both cow feed and for bee pasture, is the Bokhara or Sweet or Honey or White clover. No farmer with fruit or with cows should think of .overlooking Sweet clover. Nature will do much; but the wise man will assist nature where its laws fall short in performing the proper uses for his purposes. More legume mean more life; the legumes cannot be overdone. SALEM IS THE DEHY- drAtion CENTER OF f THE WORLD DO you .-eanze what that means ? ft Ineana that there la a mar kH, and a growing market for every vegetable and fruit that can be raised on the land In this territory. ild that means more than la apparent to the stranger at first glance; for a greater va riety of fruits and vegetables can be successfully grown here than in any olher part of this country or the world. Dehydration Is the greatest thing in the world, in food con servation. It talies out the water; the conaurai-r puts It back, at any time In the future, anywhere under :; the shining sun and then h has the Xrult or the vegetable as good as fresh, in every nutritive quality, and la every other way. The laving will be billions, annually. And all the money comes to Salem excepting what is expended for the nails In the shipping boxes. Better than a gold mine; for it will P'ver "pinch out."
