Hutchason at her home on North Church street for the monthly meeting of the club. During the bus iness meeting which occupied the early afternoon a report was read from the county federation meeting of woman's clubs. Mrs. Guy Smith, Mrs. W. E. Trawick and Mrs. L. J. Simeral were taken Into the club. Dean Frances M. Richards of Wil ' lamette university gave a very inter esting informal talk on the life of Miss Opal Whiteley, whose diary, which appears in the Atlantic Month ly, Is creating so much Interest. Miss Marie Corner, accompanied by Miss Faye Pratt, sang a solo. Miss Richards and Mrs. Byron Brunk were guests of the club. Robert Ashby and Jane Hill pot were taken into the club. Games and light refreshments were enjoyed after the business meeting. - Mrs. A. E. Glbbard was hostess Wednesday for a prettily appointed luncheon at her home In honor of Miss Ruth Ross, one of the members of the high school graduating cloas who leaves for Yakima to make her home. The table was centered with a bowl of pink rosebuds and at the honor guest's cover was a small bowl of pink roses, while at the other covers were vases with single rosebuds. Dr. John H. Boyd will chris ten him Pearson. The young chap's paternal grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Bettett of Portland, will also be present. Franklyn Miles, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Miles, has returned from Portland where he visited his cousin. Miss Hallie Knlchr. and at tended her birthday party. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Richards are spending today with their daughter. Miss Ruth Richards, a student at Willamette university. They motor ed from Portland and were accom panied by Mrs. E. halt on and Miss Patton who will visit relatives In Sa lem. The party will return to Port land this evening but Miss Richards will remain until after the Doney re ception Monday night. Mr. and Mrs V.'E. Kuhn will ro to Portland tomorrow to spend the week and convention of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. E. C. Gamble and two child- ren. Winifred and Francis, returned Wednesday night to Salem from California where they have ben spending the winter, having motored down last autumn. The missionary society of Leslie Methodist church met Tuesday af ternoon In the church parlors to cel ebrate the 40th anniversary of the national organization of the Meth odist missionary societies. The church was beautifully decorated to represent woods, and tho many wood ferns and blooms were effectively veed. The feature of tho Interest- Ing program was an Indian play.
